hang time

a photo of Robbie riding, just so he doesn’t hate on me too much…

bi-robbie

Flemington banks in Melbourne.

Bi-Robbie isn’t actually bi (or is he?) but he’s still one of the best dudes i’ve ever known.

fuel

So fuel is pretty cheap at William Creek Hotel…

colour and sound

This photo is from another roadtrip we did to Melbourne a while ago. It was a fairly large roadtrip and it was nothing but awesome. I’m going to post more photos from this set, as well as the Ballarat set, over the next few does.

This is just city lights with a slightly longer exposure.

best times

One of my best mates Sam Waters. Photo is from a trip to Ballarat we did a while ago. 5 people, 5 bikes, 1 car. It was probably one of the best trips i’ve ever been on-i don’t think life gets much better than being on a road trip with your 4 best mates, riding, being idiots and just having fun. This set of photos reminds me of nothing but good times!

RIDE

An edit of a quick game of ride i filmed the other night. Colours didn’t turn out so good, but it was still fun.

camera test

Continuing on from my previous post, this video is hopefully a small taste of the kind of style i have to come in the future.

Clint from Colony sent Liam a nice camera to film some stuff on, these are the first few clips we’ve collected while i get use to the settings and figuring out what looks good.

I think it turned out alright.

I’m working on another one at the moment, but due to lighting issues the footage isn’t quite as good as i had hoped it would be. Regardless, it’s fun to edit, fun to film, fun to ride and hopefully fun to watch!

SD? HD? 1080? 720? i? p?

As of now all my future videos/edits/projects will be filmed in High Definition. I’ve just finished a short BMX one and also working on another 2, and i have a plan for another couple of non-bmx videos aswell.

HD is the future, there is no point in hanging onto SD, it is old technology and i really don’t think it has a purpose in what i like to film. HD looks alot cleaner and crisper all round. The technology is getting cheaper too, as it becomes more and more mainstream (just look at GoPro).

I’d like to use this as a chance to send my video production in a different direction. I’d like to keep it clean, crisp, simple and, most importantly, enjoyable. Simple titles, smooth transitions, spot-on camera work and a steady hand is what i would like all my productions from here on out to incorporate.

So goodbye SD and hello HD.

Photo not related to post, but i enjoy it.

Liam Z

Liam Zingberg’s 2011 edit that i did for him in January. Due to half of the clips being filmed by Doug Underhill i had to film in Standard Definition which makes the quality drop quite a bit. I’d like to think this is my last SD edit i will ever do. I feel like this edit put Liam on the BMX map even stronger then he already was. Even if you aren’t a BMX’er I’m sure you can still understand the work that Liam put in to get some of this stuff done.

raw photos

I’m not a huge fan of editing photos. Photoshop has its purposes, which it is good for, but i’m not an abuser of the fact Photoshop can change photo settings. Most of my photos will be posted raw, with minimal editing. Some might get a bit of a crop or colour correction (if the photo needs it), but that’s as far as i take it. I try to get a photo right the first time, but sometimes it just can’t be done.

This is a good raw photo. It sets the mood i was feeling while waiting on the floor of the airport for a delayed Jetstar flight. I’m not sure what the guy in front of me was doing, but this photo pretty much sums up airports perfectly; so boring you sit on the floor staring at your shoes…

Lake Eyre

Took a 4WD trip about a month ago. Did a big loop, up the Oodnadatta Track from Marree, to William Creek then across to Coober Pedy and back down via Woomera and Port Augusta. Long trip with lots of driving (about 2300km in 6 days), but it was very much worth it to see Lake Eyre full of water.

Photo is of Lake Eyre north. The size is almost unbelievable.
